Take the time to research the backbone that the colocation host has available since this will be what is tying your servers together. Make sure that the colocation hosting has enough bandwidth to support your business the way that you need it to. Other things to be mindful of are the speed and dependability of the colocation hosting server, an unreliable one may not be there when you need it.
