It seems that no one even bothers to write letters anymore, and for many people, such things as baby announcements are relics of the past that are remembered fondly, but hardly ever practiced today. Nevertheless, there are quite a few people who are still interested in preserving many of these traditions, and baby announcements remain widely in use as a way to inform friends and family members of the birth of a new child. While we cannot argue with the fact that more modern forms of communication such as e mail, instant messaging and the like have brought about numerous benefits that do make life a lot easier, relatively "old fashioned" customs such as baby announcements are certainly just as effective now as they have ever been in the past. Besides, for an event that is as significant as the birth of a child, baby announcements are certainly far more appropriate than any of the more tech savvy means of communication. Of course, you do have to make the effort to make your baby announcements more palatable to a generation that was weaned on electronic means of communication.
